Three years ago, Dr Pamela Mitchell Legg and Dr. Rebecca Davis were teaching a children’s and youth literature class at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Charlotte, NC. They wanted to share the work that their students were doing in that class and solicited the help of the Libary staff on the Richmond campus to do just that.
We were all walking into new territory, but over the years, we have found new writers, new ways to connect literature and our faith story, and lots of new readers who have told us inspiring and wonderful stories about children, young people and ministry. You also told us – always graciously -what we could do to make the site easier to use.
So, after three years, it is time for a new site. We took your suggestions and began working with Jessica Rathbun-Cook, a fabulously talented and creative UPSem graduate, to redesign everything. Many of you have already found us since we had to keep many pages open while we were working on them, but today, we are happy to tell you that we have officially moved to a new site and have an official ‘new’ name: STORYPATH. (We found when we started asking that this is what many of you were already calling us. Jessica just designed us a cool logo to go with our URL and now our name is a lot easier to say!)
All of you who were subscribed to this site by email or WordPress have been moved by the good folks at WordPress. You should continue to receive updates regularly from our new site in the same manner you were receiving information from the old site. If, however, you subscribed to this site by RSS feed or only signed up here in the last two weeks, you will need to resubscribe at our new site. We will be posting new lectionary links at the new site this afternoon. If you do not get notices about those Links, you should definitely resubscribe.
In moving to the new site, we’ve had to do a tremendous amount of data work in order to get some of our new search options to work. So you may find mistakes, or links that don’t work, although we’ve tried our best to get everything ready to go. If you find things that aren’t working as you think they should, let us know!
One of the new features of the site is a “Guest Voices” area. We’d love to have posts from people who are doing exciting things with children’s books in their homes or settings. So if you want to share something in a blog post on the site, use the Contact Form at Storypath and let us hear from you. We’ll work together to schedule YOUR voice on our new site.
When you get to Storypath, you’ll find all of the content that has been on this blog since day one. On Wednesday, we’ll be back to posting book reviews , starting off with one of our favorite new children’s books – Hank Finds an Egg. This notice today will be the last post from this site.
We hope you’ll all move with us and create new conversations around children, books, faith and ministry. We look forward to talking with you!
